Amnesty Committee Meets Widows Of Slain Police Officers In Kano:sunday,may 26th 2013


The Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution with members of Boko Haram sect has promised to look into the plight of widows and children’s of the police officers killed in Kano state.

Addressing widows of slain police officers in Kano state, North West Nigeria, the committee’s chairman Tanimu Turaki said the federal government will not abandon them as preparations are on-going to provide them with all the necessary compensation. (source:www.boko-haram.blogspot.com)
It is reported that many of the widows have left the police barracks and now probably homeless.
Mr Turaki promised to include the widows and their children in the committee’s recommendations to the President.
Speaking on the state of emergency declared in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state, the chairman said President Jonathan has not declared war with Boko Haram and that the state of emergency will not affect his committee’s performance in any way.

The committee stated that it will continue to interact with concerned authority until it discovers ways of reaching out to the leadership of Boko Haram sect.
6,000 IEDs
Meanwhile in a power point presentation, the Kano command of the Nigeria police told the committee that it has so far successfully detonated over 6,000 improvised explosive devices intercepted at many locations in Kano state.
